Beverly Hills is a community that is rich in history and synonymous with LA’s luxury lifestyle. When many people hear the name, they think of palm trees, convertibles and Rodeo Drive. Ask anyone who lives here, though, and they’ll be quick to tell you there is so much more to know and love about this city.

Beverly Hills History

Beverly Hills has been known as a unique oasis since its earliest inhabitants, the Tongva, settled here millennia ago. Spanish explorers were drawn to the region and later American land investors. In 1900, a group of investors led by Burton E. Green bought land here to drill for oil. Rather than oil, they struck water and the town was born. Green and his wife were inspired by Beverly Farms in Massachusetts, thus leading to the name we now know as Beverly Hills.

Landscape architect, Wilbur D. Cook designed the street plan for Beverly Hills in 1907 and the community quickly grew from there. Over time, this area became known for the Rodeo Drive commercial district, grand luxury estates and local landmarks like The Beverly Hills Hotel. The Lap of Luxury

Wealthy families have called Beverly Hills home for generations while Los Angeles and Hollywood elite continue to make this one of the most desirable zip codes in the world. We all know the zip code 90210 from the TV show—one of many shows and films to be set against this one-of-a-kind backdrop. Pretty Woman, Beverly Hills Cop and, of course, The Beverly Hillbillies are just a few that come to mind!

More Than Just a Name

Yet, there is so much more to Beverly Hills than just the luxury mansions and famous landmarks. This is a tightknit community with an unmatched quality of life. We all know the name, but only those who have lived here can truly tell you what this city is all about. We’ve worked with many real estate buyers and sellers in the Beverly Hills market and there is just something special about this place. There is no real estate market quite like it.

Beverly Hills Education & Culture

Beverly Hills is also known for excellent education. It is home to the Beverly Hills Unified School District and private schools like the Futures Academy. It’s also a stone’s throw from UCLA.

There’s no shortage of great shopping and entertainment around Beverly Hills. Rodeo Drive is world-famous for its shops and boutiques. The Sunset Strip, Century City, Los Angeles Country Club and other great West LA hot spots are close by. There’s so much to see and do around here, and then you get to come home to your sanctuary in the beautiful hills.
