Descanso Gardens is one of the most beautiful places in all of Southern California. They offer stunning botanical gardens and seasonal displays. It’s always a good time to plan a visit to Descanso, and April is one of the best with springtime in full bloom throughout the property. Here are some of the interesting events happening at Descanso Gardens this month:
Trees Talk Exhibition
Daily
This exhibition is open from 10am-4pm daily in the Sturt Haaga Gallery. It focuses on heritage coast live oaks and the unique network that allows trees to communicate with one another. This is an interactive exhibition that will be open until June 2, 2024. Learn more.
Little Explorers
April 5-6
A special activity event for children ages 2-5. It’s free with admission to Descanso and gives families a chance to enjoy arts, crafts and natural exploration together. This program happens the first weekend of every month. Learn more.
Community Service Days
April 6 & 20
This is a unique volunteer opportunity to help Descanso provide care for their gardens. Community volunteers will do some mulching and work around the garden. It’s a wonderful learning experience for gardening enthusiasts and a chance to contribute to the botanical gardens at Descanso. Earth Day Native Blooms Display
April 22-28
This is a week-long celebration of Earth Day and the California native plants on display at Descanso Gardens, including their incredible oak trees. These special exhibitions will feature displays created by Descanso horticulture staff. Learn more.
