Halloween is back this year in Pasadena and throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Here are some fun (and sometimes frightening) events and activities you can enjoy with your family. There are also a few adults-only experiences to consider with your partner and/or friends.

It’s Alive! • All Month Long

This is an intimate and immersive Halloween experience at Mountain View Mausoleum inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic “Frankenstein.” This is an event people are surely talking about! Learn more.

Halloween Horror Nights are back at Universal Studios. Check out their ticket portal for select nights and tickets.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride • All Month Long

The famous Haunted Hayride is back in Griffith Park this year. Experience the traditional hayride experiences, along with mazes, trick-or-treating and other fun activities. Learn more.

Carved at Descanso Gardens • October 11-31

This is a wonderful family-friendly event in La Cañada Flintridge. You will walk a 1-mile path through the Camellia Forest that is lined with thousands of carved pumpkins. What a great way to get into the Halloween spirit! Learn more.

Halloween Movie in the Park • October 23

Enjoy Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” at Victory Park in Pasadena. There will be a costume contest, games and pre-movie entertainment beginning at 6:30. Learn more.

Santa Anita Park Pumpkin Patch & Fall Fun Fest 2021 • October 23-24 & 30-31

The infield comes alive for the last two weekends of October when Santa Anita Park hosts the Pumpkin Patch & fall Fun Fest. This event is fun for the whole family with a pumpkin patch, rides, carnival games, face painting and pony rides while the horses race the track around you (wagering machines available for adults). Rocky Horror Burlesque Show • October 29

Check out the live burlesque show and double-feature movie screening of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Creature of the Night.” This will happen at The Mixx in Oldtown Pasadena. Learn more.

Dio de los Muertos Sugar Skull Craft • October 30

This will be a virtual event. Sign up on the City of Pasadena website and art kits will be available for pick-up. Participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create a fun and unique calavera “sugar skull” for Dio de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Haunted Halloween & Candy Hunt • October 30

Visit Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena for the annual Halloween festivities. It’s a great place to take the kids trick-or-treating and enjoy some haunted houses. Learn more.
