Pasadena is situated just a few minutes northeast of downtown Los Angeles, in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. Though we serve home buyers and sellers throughout the greater LA area, The HD Group is based out of Pasadena and we have a special connection to this city that is full of historic architecture and beautiful homes.

The City of Roses

Pasadena is also affectionately known as the “City of Roses” as home to the world-famous Rose Bowl and, of course, the annual Tournament of Roses Parade—which is a tradition that dates all the way back to 1890. We are the ninth largest city in Los Angeles County and this area has a rich history. In fact, Pasadena was the first city to be incorporated in the county.

Pasadena Arts & Culture

Pasadena is also known for its arts and culture. The city is home to the Pasadena Symphony & Pops, which offers several concerts each year at the Ambassador Auditorium. California’s official state theater is also located here at the Pasadena Playhouse, which usually offers seven new shows per season. There are numerous other local art galleries, theaters and concert halls to add to the bustling cultural scene of this area.

Historical Architecture

One of the things I love most about Pasadena is the unique and historical architecture found throughout the city. There are quite a few structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as both local and national landmarks. The city is known as the fountainhead of the American arts and crafts movement, as evidenced by many classic craftsman bungalow homes lining the neighborhood streets. If you’ve never checked out the Bungalow Heaven neighborhood, I highly recommend it. All of the 800 charming craftsman bungalow homes here were built between 1900 and 1930.

On the other side of town, you’ll find the Gamble House. It is known as one of the premier examples of the craftsman architectural style. On Orange Grove Boulevard, you will find Pasadena’s original “Millionaire’s Row” with many historical mansions still standing. The most notable is the Wrigley Mansion, which serves as the official headquarters for the Tournament of Roses.
